Bottom Condom
The Bottom Condom is the name coined for the Reality Female Condom for use during anal sex. There are 2 versions of the Bottom condom now. The original is the polyurethane barrier pouch (Reality FC). The newer version is the Reality FC2 which is made with Polyisoprene. Polyisorpene is softer and flexible than condoms made of other materials. Condoms Unwrapped explains the difference between all condoms in more detail. that can be inserted inside your butt, rather than having your top put a condom on his own penis.
Though originally designed for use during vaginal sex, it's a great tool for bottoms to help prevent HIV and other STDs. It's also a nice option for guys who are allergic to latex!
WHY USE THE BOTTOM CONDOM?
- It gives the bottom a way to protect himself.
- The polyurethane sheath gives broader protection from skin-to-skin STDs (genital warts, syphilis and herpes) as it covers the outer area of your sphincter (the hole) and the base of the penis during sex.
- The bottom condom does not deteriorate when oil-based lubricants are used.
- It can be inserted hours before having sex!
Remember, practice makes perfect, so try putting it in before you plan to actually use it. Using sex toys like a dildo can help you get acquainted with how it works. It also helps to have some instructions for use, which we've included below!
HOW TO COVER YOUR BUTT
1. Prepare to put it in.
Be sure the inner ring is at the closed end of the sheath. The pouch comes lubricated, but add extra lube to the outside of the pouch for comfort if needed.
Watch out for jewelry, fingernails, and other sharp objects that may tear the pouch! |

 |
2. Pinch the ring.
Squeeze the inner ring as shown on the right. The ring helps guide the condom in and helps keep it in place during sex. However, if the ring is uncomfortable, use it as a guide and remove it before having sex. Many guys prefer to remove the ring even before insertion, so feel free to try it out both ways.
|
  |
3. Stick it in.
Insert the tip of the pouch through the sphincter (be sure to use plenty of lube). Take your time. Push the rest of the pouch up into your anal cavity with your fingers (you can also use sex toys like a dildo or a butt plug).
Another option is to have your top put it on his penis (just like traditional latex condoms) and have him stick it in that way! |
  |
4. Clear for landing!
Now you're ready. Make sure the outside ring lies around the anus as shown. About one inch of the open end will stay outside your sphincter. This actually provides extra protection from skin-to-skin STDs like genital warts, syphilis and herpes. |
  |
5. Red light, green light.
You may notice that the condom moves around during sex. Side-to-side motion is normal and will not reduce your protection. Sometimes it may slip up and down in the anal cavity, riding on your top's penis. As long as your top's penis stays in the pouch, it's all good.
If you notice the outer ring being pushed into the anal cavity, STOP! Have the bottom pull the outer ring so that it lies outside the anus and add extra lube inside the pouch or on your top's penis.
Also, make sure your top is putting his penis INSIDE the pouch, and not to the side of it.
Again, practice makes perfect! |
    |
6. The BIG finish.
After you're finished having sex, twist the outer ring and pull the condom out gently. This will help keep any fluid inside from spilling.
Throw away the used condom in a trash can. Don't flush. And don't reuse! |
